The Stockton Ports found themselves in a battle with the California League North Division rival San Jose Giants on Saturday night at Stockton Ballpark.

One night after crushing San Jose 10-3, the Giants took an early lead, but the Ports fought back to tie the game 2-2 after seven innings.

The Giants, however, pulled out a 3-2 win thanks to Jalen Miller's one-out RBI single in the top of the ninth.

The Ports tried to come back in the bottom half, but Giants closer Frank Rubio retired the side for the win.

In the top of the first, San Jose’s Bryce Johnson led off with a walk, moved to second on Jalen Miller’s sacrifice bunt, then Heath Quinn hit a two-run homer off Ports starter Zack Erwin for his 12th of the season, to right center.

Stockton cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second when Cobie Vance singled to right, bringing in Santiago Chavez, who singled earlier in the inning.

However, Luke Persico tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single, scoring Cobie Vance.

Persico is pacing the Ports at the plate by going 3 for 4 with a double. Heath Quinn went 3 for 4 with his two-run blast for the Giants. Former St. Mary’s and University of the Pacific standout Gio Brusa singled for San Jose.

Ports starter Zack Erwin lasted six innings, as he gave up eight hits, two runs (both earned), struck out three and walked two.

The Ports and Giants play one more time in the three-game series at 6:10 p.m. today at Stockton Ballpark.
