East Union product Sam Owens had another big day as the Pacific softball team made a successful trip to Denton, Texas.

Owens went 4 for 5 with two RBI as the Tigers beat North Texas 10-4 on Tuesday. Pacific had 14 hits as it snapped a six-game losing streak.

"I'm really proud of how we showed up today," Pacific head coach Brian Kolze. "We had great energy and I feel a day off and change of environment was needed and it showed especially at the plate and on defense."

Owens had RBI singles in the fourth and fifth innings. She is hitting .355 in 24 games this season for the Tigers (9-15). And plenty of her teammates got in on the offensive fun against the Mean Green (9-11).

Sydney Lahners went 2 for 4 with a double and a hit a three-run home run. It was her team-leading eighth homer of the year. Rachel Sellers went 2 for 4 with three RBI, and had a two-run homer, and Hailey Reed went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Starter Marissa Young struggled for Pacific, allowing three earned runs and five hits in 1 2/3 innings. Megan Walters (4-4) took over and went 5 1/3 innings for the win.


Santa Rosa 10, Delta 1

At Santa Rosa, the Mustangs (17-4, 4-3 Big 8 Conference) fell behind 4-0 after the first inning and could not catch up to the Bear Cubs (14-3, 4-0) in a matchup of the top two teams in Northern California. Delta, which came into the game ranked No. 1, allowed nine hits, while No. 2 Santa Rosa’s pitching gave up five.


Turlock Christian 10, Venture Academy 7

At Stockton, Dylan Enrique was 2 for 3 and Chris Tabin was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI, but the Mustangs (4-3) lost to the Eagles (5-0).


Dougherty Valley 17, Lincoln 4

At Lincoln, Justin Abrescy had three goals and Matthew Cranston had one, but the Trojans (4-2) fell to Dougherty Valley.
