Emily Constance Hamilton (Luiz)

June 2, 1924 - September 10, 2016

On September 10, 2016, Emily Constance Hamilton (Luiz), age 92 of Visalia, CA, passed away from complications of vascular dementia. Emily was born June 2, 1924 in Newman, CA, the 4th of 9 children to John Souza Luiz and Balbina Rocha Luiz.

Emily grew up in the Newman - Crows Landing area where she worked on the family dairy cutting hay, milking cows and helping out with her younger siblings. During WWII she worked on Coronado Island in San Diego and then on Rough and Ready Island in Stockton. She was working as a waitress at Strawberry Lane when she met and married Robert

Hamilton on November 7, 1948. Emily lived in south Stockton for 55 years where she and Bob raised their 4 children. Emily moved to Visalia in 2004 where she met a great group of volunteers and began singing with the Senior Singers. She made many new friends and attended many of her grandchildren's activities.

She had a strong sense of family and nurtured a love of music and education in her children. She has joined her daughter, Victoria in that choir of angels and we know her son,

Robert is playing his trumpet right along with them. Bob is beaming with joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Hamilton (2000), her son, Robert W. Hamilton Jr. (1978) and daughter Victoria

Hamilton Stange (2015). She

is survived by her daughters

Dianne England (Alan) and

Susan Harrell (Steve); grandchildren Patrick England (Jahsalyn), Travis Harrell (Alisa), Bennett Harrell (Brittany),

Jordan England (Jill), Emily Harrell and Audrey Stange as well as three great grandchildren: Mela (9), Daxon (7) and Evie (2). She is also survived by her sister Florence Angelo and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Sunday, September 18 at Deyoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N California St. Stockton, CA 95202 at 11:00 am.
