Man throws soda can at officers

STOCKTON — A man running in and out of traffic Friday afternoon allegedly threw a can of soda at officers when they tried to detain him, Stockton police said.

Officers responding to the in the 1400 block of North El Dorado Street at 3:25 p.m. Friday said after the man threw the can, he then pulled away from officers and attempted to punch them.

The man, identified as 26-year-old John Macias, was taken to the ground and arrested on suspicion of battery on an officer and resisting arrest.

Man held for attempted murder after beating, suffocation attempt

STOCKTON — Two men were arguing at a home in the 1800 block of Ralph Avenue at 12:57 p.m. Friday when one of them struck the other multiple times in the head with a golf club, police said.

The assailant then tried to suffocate the victim, police said.

The victim was able to get away but collapsed a short distance away from the residence, police said.

Arriving officers were able to locate the assailant, identified as 26-year-old Antonio Hall-Jones. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail, police said. he is expected to appear in San Joaquin County Superior Court on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
