History: The mentor program is one of AAUW Stockton’s local projects. We follow girls from low socio-economic groups beginning in grades 7 through 12. We endeavor to provide them with opportunities to broaden their horizons and encourage higher education. To date 100 percent of our girls have attended college.

Mission: The girls are mentored by AAUW members who are all college-educated women. Mentors assist the girls in all areas, including academic, social, family dynamics, values and life skills. In addition to meeting individually as needed, the group meets at least once monthly to provide experiences that might be out of reach for girls from families without means. We are in need of monetary donations to fund these experiences, which might include museum entrance, transportation, conferences, etc.
