Barbecue to raise funds for home for homeless, displaced veterans

STOCKTON — New Hope Vets Inc., a nonprofit advocating for homeless and misplaced veterans, will host another fundraising barbecue beginning at noon Saturday at 1345 N. Monroe St., Stockton.

Proceeds will go toward furnishing a residence for homeless and misplaced veterans. Price for the barbecue, which will include chicken, ribs, tri-tip, hot links and several side dishes, is $13.50 per plate; $22 for a family of two; $35 for a family of three; and $41 for a family of four. Aviation open house next week

STOCKTON — Young adults interested in exploring a career in aviation are invited to an open house at Stockton Metropolitan Airport to learn more about equipment and what it takes to become a pilot.

The Explorer Aviation Post open house begins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Big Valley Aviation, located on 7535 Lindbergh St. in Stockton.

There will be various type of planes and other equipment as well as representatives in the field to discuss career opportunities from pilots and mechanics to air traffic controller and more.

All potential attendees must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian.
