STOCKTON — The Spanos family has announced its plans for marking the passing of family patriarch Alex Spanos, the 95-year-old Stockton real-estate mogul who died Tuesday morning.

The two days of ceremonies will take place Oct. 23-24. All events are by invitation only.

A short memorial prayer service will be held from 6-6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church. It will be followed by a brief reception that will provide an opportunity to greet members of the Spanos family.

The funeral service, expected to last about one hour, will be held at St. Basil at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 24. The funeral will be followed by burial, for family members only, at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.

The commemorations of Spanos’ life will conclude with a by-invitation-only celebration of life at noon at the A.G. Spanos Center on the campus of University of the Pacific, Spanos’ alma mater.

Spanos’ death this week came two months after the passing of 92-year-old Faye Spanos, his wife of 69 years. Alex Spanos suffered from dementia the past decade and recently had been in failing health.
