LODI — An arrest has been made in connection to a double homicide in east Lodi that took place outside an bar.

Authorities announced that 24-year-old Jaime Mora of Stockton came into Lodi police headquarters on Friday to provide a statement in regard to the case and subsequently was arrested on suspicion of homicide.

The victims of the deadly shooting were identified as 21-year-old Brian Soto of Stockton and 35-year-old Gerardo Maldonado De Santiago of Lodi.

The two were shot to death at about 2 a.m. on Sept. 9 in a parking lot just south of the Alibi Bar & Lounge in east Lodi, on Cherokee Lane just north of Lodi Avenue. De Santiago died at the scene, and Soto was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he died.

Police said at the time there was likely to have been an altercation between two parties that ended in gunfire but that the two victims do not appear to have been in altercation with each other.

The investigation remains active and there are several potential witnesses who were in the parking lot at the time of the shooting that have not come forward, officers said.

A gun that may have been used in the shooting was located at a nearby business, according to police.

The homicides were the seventh and eighth in Lodi in 2018, with 3½ months remaining in the year. There were five killings in Lodi in 2015, five in 2016 and one in 2017.

Lodi police are asking any potential witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information may contact Lodi police at (209) 333-6727 or Detective Adam Lockie at (209) 333-5541, or call Lodi Area Crime Stoppers at (209) 369-2746 to remain anonymous.
