TRACY — A Tracy man who was found by police alongside a busy road suffering from stab wounds is in critical condition and an arrest has been made in the case.
Tracy police said an officer was on routine patrol at around 9:21 a.m. Wednesday and found a man collapsed on the sidewalk near the intersection of 10th and 11th streets in central Tracy.
The 24-year-old victim had stab wounds to the chest and was taken to a local area hospital for treatment.
According to the report, investigators were able to identify and arrest Anthone Cobb of Tracy in connection to the stabbing eight hours later at an undisclosed location.
Cobb, 36, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and violation of probation. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail with no bail set and will appear in Manteca court at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Sgt. Tim Bauer said Thursday the victim is in critical, but stable condition.
Detectives also were able to determine that the victim and Cobb know each other and this was not a random act of violence.
