STOCKTON — Police are investigating the city’s 23rd homicide of the year after a man was shot Friday afternoon and later died.

Reports of a shooting were made at 5:10 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Ishi Goto Street in Weston Ranch.

When officers arrived, they learned that a 22-year-old victim was taken to a local area hospital via a private party, Stockton police said.

While at the hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries and homicide detectives were called to investigate. The victim has yet to be identified by the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office until next of kin are notified.

Authorities said while there is no suspect information or motive as of Saturday, they believe the shooting was not random.
