STOCKTON — A man was killed Monday night as he walked across North Wilson Way and was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, police reported.

The victim was identified Tuesday afternoon as Andre Prentis Jones, 37, of Stockton, according to the San Joaquin County Coroner's Office.

Responding officers found Jones suffering from major unspecified injuries shortly after the 11:25 p.m. incident at North Wilson and East Park Street. Jones was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Stockton police.

A white, two-door sedan was seen leaving the scene of the crash. The Police Department’s Traffic Unit is leading the investigation.

No further information on the circumstances of the crash was provided.
