STOCKTON — A man who had been creating a traffic hazard allegedly elbowed an officer in the face as he was taken into custody and later fought again with police while being fingerprinted, Stockton police reported.
Officers responded to a report of an individual causing a traffic hazard near East Scotts Avenue and South Ash Street at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
Upon contacting the man in question, officers determined he was under the influence of narcotics, police said.
The man, later identified as Wayne Leikam, 50, reportedly tried to leave the area, and when officers attempted to detain him, Leikam elbowed one of them in the face, police said.
Leikam was taken to the ground and arrested. Later that day, as he was being fingerprinted, Leikam again fought with officers and was taken to the ground, police said.
