STOCKTON — Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a man who broke into a home Saturday morning, Stockton police reported.
The incident was reported about 8:15 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 900 block of South Monroe Street.
Police said someone at the home shot a man who threatened his family after breaking in. The unidentified man was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The man’s name is not available pending notification of next of kin. Stockton police did not identify the person who shot the man.
The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office was notified of the incident and Stockton police said an initial investigation indicates the shooting was justifiable as self-defense pending a final review.
