LODI — An 18-year-old man was taken into custody early Tuesday after allegedly firing a flare gun toward employees at the Lodi Walmart.

Officers responded to the scene, in the 1600 block of Lower Sacramento Road, just before 3 a.m.

Police said Daniel Aguiar was in the parking lot with a flare gun in his waistband. He was detained at gunpoint without further incident.

Aguiar is believed to have fired one flare toward the main entrance after being involved in an argument with store employees, authorities said.

According to the report, there were no injuries and no damage was caused by the flare. Aguiar was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of two misdemeanors and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

His bail was set at $273,000.

Tuesday’s incident at Lodi’s Walmart came two days after police investigated a report that a possible shoplifter was inside and was armed with mace.

The man, identified as 27-year-old Baron Weeks of Lodi, was found to have a no-bail warrant and was arrested.

Authorities said Weeks’ vehicle was searched based on his probation conditions and several stolen items from a recent residential burglary were located and recovered.

The items included a stolen Glock 9 mm handgun and an AR-15 lower receiver. Weeks was booked at the County Jail on suspicion of several felony firearms-related charges, possession of stolen property, miscellaneous drug charges and the misdemeanor warrant.
