Youth chess tournament is Friday

STOCKTON — A youth chess tournament is scheduled for 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at Pittman Elementary School, 701 E. Park St., Stockton.

Registration is from 5:30-6:30 p.m., and play begins at 7 p.m. Cost is $15, which pays for awards.

Youths through high school will compete in groups of four players of approximate equal age and ability. The top two in each group will win trophies; medals will be awarded to those in third and fourth. Beginners are welcome as long as they know the basic rules of chess. Chess sets are provided.

Kaiser opens flu clinics

Kaiser has opened flu clinics to help its patients have free and easy access to flu shots, now that flu season is upon us.

The seasonal flu vaccination clinics, which require no appointments for Kaiser patients, are open Monday through Friday through Nov. 25.

• Manteca: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Manteca Medical Offices, 1721 W. Yosemite Ave.

• Stockton: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the second floor by the cafeteria or 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in pediatrics in the Stockton Medical Offices, 7373 West Lane.

• Tracy: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the first floor vaccination clinic in the Tracy Medical Offices, 2185 W. Grant Line Road

There are also seasonal Saturday clinics:

• Stockton and Manteca, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 1 and Oct. 8.

• Tracy, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 1 and 8.
