For a second year, musical acts, venues and promoters from Stockton and San Joaquin County have topped 50.
This time, 54 of them have been nominated for Modesto Area Music Association awards. There were 56 last year.
The 16th annual awards will be presented Oct. 11 at Modesto’s State Theatre. Voting is done through the internet at ModestoView.com and modestoareamusic.com. The voting deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 9.
The free awards show is an invitation-only event. It will be streamed live by Central Valley Reports at ModestoView.com.
Stockton-San Joaquin County’s Latin bands made the biggest impression with eight nominations — Dezu; Grupo Carrillo; Central Latino Allstars; Latin Magic; Latin Soul; Latin Essence; Marvin Zeller Band; David Perez Band.
The area’s restaurants and music venues also are well-represented — Whirlow's; Blackwater Republic; Valley Brewing; Windmill Cove; Mile Wine Company; and Garlic Brothers (restaurants/cafés).
So are live-music venues (The Whiskey Barrel; Bob Hope Theatre; The Grand Theater; and Main St. Inn.
