December 9, 1990 - May 24, 2007
On Thursday, May 24, 2007, Danielle Lynn (Bella) Duncan, slipped the bonds of earth to touch the face of God at the age 16. Her passing is a great loss to all who knew her and the fact that so many feel they have lost their best friend is a testament of her loving spirit. She was born in Lodi, CA on December 9, 1990. Though she had many challenges in her life due to her struggles with a rare neuromuscular disease, she approached life with joy and a zest for living that most of us could only hope to achieve. With each loss of her physical abilities, she would readjust and make new plans live her life to the fullest everyday with what she had left. There was never an ounce of bitterness or self-pity over her loss, because her strong faith and love for her Lord Jesus gave her comfort in knowing He loved her and was in control of her life. She was smart and articulate and had a great sense of humor. She loved animals, especially her dog, Maggie. One of the great joys of her life was being a shepherdess. She owned her own business, Genesis Farms, recently in partnership with her brother, Dylan and was one of only 14 registered breeders in California of rare Jacob sheep, acquiring stock from as far away as Oregon and Tennessee. She loved her sheep and one of her proudest moments was when her farm was profiled in the national publication for Jacob breeders. Danielle was in the 10th grade and was a homeschooler. She was a voracious reader, sometimes reading a book a day, despite all her other interests. She danced for — years with Dance Dynamics and sang for one year in Lodi Children's Chorus. She was also a member of Alpine-Victor 4-H. Now she is dancing and singing before our Lord on streets of gold. From the day Bella was born, she had brought joy, light and love into the lives of her parents, Daryl and Diana. She was an inspiration to them and the best daughter, two parents could ever have. She was best friend and constant companion to her brother, Dylan. She loved playing video and computer games with him, working out in the pasture together, and just hanging out and spending time together. Danielle was his biggest fan, attending all of Dylan's sporting events and even some of his practices. She especially loved football. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alvin and Wanda Cherry, Jim Duncan and Joe Verhauz. Bella will be greatly missed by her grandmothers, Joanne Verhauz of Sonora and Chris Duncan Bosson of Woodbridge; her aunts and uncles, Tammy and Luis Jacobo of Lodi, Garry Duncan of Woodbridge, Kevin Duncan of Stockton, Diana Duncan and Paul Vitagliano of Santa Monica; her cousins, Marissa, Mikayla and Marcus Jacobo of Lodi; and many other extended relatives and friends, including her dear friend, Jayei Roek.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2007 at First Baptist Church, 267 N. Mills Ave., Lodi, CA 95242. Pastor Glenn Barnes will be officiating. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
